We’re moving on this week from writing hard news into some new areas: live-tweeting events, social media curation, and interviewing. We will tweet as a class from the first of Linfield’s campus debate watch events, at which we’ll view the first presidential debate, focused on domestic policy, and tweet about it. The event is from 6-8:30 p.m., starting in Ice Auditorium with the debate viewing and then relocating to Jonasson for pizza (first come, first served) and discussion. This will be a fun opportunity to test out your live-tweeting skills! We’ll practice in class on Tuesday using this TED talk and this Google Document.
On Thursday, we’ll work on your interviewing skills and write a story on deadline based on a spontaneous interview. This is a fun and challenging activity.
